DELL计算机设备故障诊断步骤表


(DELL computer Troubleshooting CHECK LIST)


在你确认自己有条件时可以对故障做初步判断,以减少电话中不必要的重复测试过程。


做任何拆装配件操作前,请确认移除电池或外接电源,必须断开设备电源!


 


No Power :


2. Check system LED, power button LED, PSU indicators


3. Exchange testing for RDNT configuration


4. Swap power cable with monitor power cable. Make sure outlet is working


5. Reseat the PSU and power connections on the MB


6. Reseat the processor, PCI cards, legacy I/O riser card 、 control panel cable 、 all internal power connections and Power Distribution Board (PDB)


7. Reduce the server to a minimal configuration for testing. Disconnect any other powered device (NIC, CD,HDD, FDD, ZIP, Video card)


8. Verify that there are no signs of any abuse, smoke, excessive heat, etc


No Post


1. Follow all No Power steps first


2. Disconnect Keyboard and Mouse


3. Reseat the processor, VRM and memory


4. Remove all internal components


5. Remove all memory for test and observe beep code.


6. Clear NVRAM by jumper


7. Swap part for test (MB, CPU and MEM)


Can't pass POST


1. Reduce the server to a minimal configuration for testing. Disconnect any other powered device (NIC, CD,HDD, FDD, ZIP, Video card)


2. Remove all internal components (PCI card, HDD)


3. Restore BIOS to factory default (Alt + E, Alt + F)


4. Clear ISA/NVRAM by jumper


System unstable


1. Use the latest management software to check system status (SA)


2. Upgrade the BIOS, ESM and driver (RAID card, NIC, SCSI card)


3. Use relevant tools to capture system logs(Event logs, Array Manage, DSET, MSreports , etc)


4. Capture blue screen code and dump file


5. Capture application software log ( BackupExec , ARCserve , etc)


RAID issue


1. Check the current working status of the equipment


2. Verify and ensure the latest data is backed up correctly


3. Write down original RAID configuration and firmware version before any operations


4. Try to recover RAID function


5. Backup data if OS can boot successfully


6. Diagnostic HDD and check SCSI chain


7. Replace the fail part or follow rebuilding procedure


8. Upgrade RAID card driver and firmware


Network issue


1. Check the adapter whether seated firmly or try a different PCI slot


2. PING testing to check connection


3. Check duplex mode and speed setting


4. Check adapters' IP and subnets


5. Run NIC diagnostics


6. Try another port on the HUB or Switch, and another cable


7. Check NIC LED and make sure driver has been loaded


8. Check event viewer


TBU issue


Backup issue


1. Check whether TBU can be detected during post


2. Check TBU device status in OS


3. Reinstall TBU driver


4. If no native backup, check 3rd backup SW job log


5. Reinstall backup SW


6. Clean the TBU


7. Use a new tape to test


8. If ALD or Library device, check the LCD message and run self test


TBU issue


Eject tape


1. Update the TBU firmware first, especially for DDS4


2. Stop backup software service


3. Reboot the server and press eject button during post.
